My Personal Chef is one of my closest friends in the world. The Private Chef (PCC) that I hired in 2021 is a rare breed, someone who works directly with me and who has a direct line to my food. He is extremely talented and is an absolute professional. In a word, he is an artist. He creates each dish with full attention and creative skill.
His name is Craig Ballantyne and he is a Certified Personal Chef for The Culinary Institute of America. There are so many good things about Personal chef near me that I will never bother to list them all here. I will, however, highlight some of the most important qualities I look for in a PCC. If you want to know what to look for in your own PCC, keep reading.
Does the PCC have experience preparing meals that taste like their namesake ingredients? Did he attend a reputable culinary school or do you have to send him away for two years to learn? Does he know the difference between canned and fresh food? (Canned food is obviously bad for you.) Does he use only the best quality ingredients and do the cooking jobs with flair and care?
Another thing I am concerned about is his ability to keep up to date on today’s cooking trends. Does he stay up to date with new cooking techniques and ingredients? He should be able to demonstrate and tell me how he prepares a dish. Does he use traditional methods like poaching, sauteing, grilling or baking? Do I need to send him to a good school for six months?
What I want to know is not only what time he is available but also if he has any special dietary requirements and how he meets them. Many PCCs are vegetarians and may have particular allergies that I do not know about. Will he prepare dishes in a gluten-free diet? What are his cooking methods like? I want to know what kind of training does he have regarding healthy eating.
Finally, is he available at odd hours? If it is after four o’clock in the afternoon then I am done with him. If I want to eat healthy right now then I am happy to pay whatever it takes to get the best PCC around. What is most important is that my family gets the best possible quality food without having to sacrifice taste and satisfaction.
